Finances

Financial assistance for the future.

For individuals at risk of losing their homes or having utilities disconnected, the Love Chapel financial support program acts as a stopgap for Bartholomew County residents while supporting better financial literacy and habits.

For more details, check out the FAQs below.

Am I eligible?

We want to offer financial assistance to anybody who needs it, but in order to do that, we have a few eligibility requirements to receive support.

First, make sure you have a specific, verified need to bring to Love Chapel. This might be a notice from your landlord or a utility bill.

Then, bring the relevant financial documents listed below, and we’ll get started.

  • Specific, verified need
  • Bank statement from the last 30 days
  • Township trustee paperwork
  • Last two paycheck stubs
  • Household information (number of family members, social security, etc.)

Your proof of residence must include your name, mailing address, and date within 30 days of your appointment.

How to receive help

Talk to your township trustee.

In order to offer as much assistance as possible, we ask that you first reach out to your trustee, as they have tax money available to support these needs.

Talk to Love Chapel.

Bring a bank statement from the last 30 days, your last two paycheck stubs, verification from the landlord/utility of how much is owed, and household information (e.g., social security).

Work towards self-sufficiency.

After meeting the immediate need and paying the bill in question, begin taking steps towards financial sustainability, seeking additional support from Love Chapel as needed.

Supporting stability.

Our goal is to encourage long-term financial stability by offering immediate help, so we offer support for rent, mortgage payments, rental deposits, and bills like gas, electric, and water. We can also sometimes help with utility deposits. We’ll work with you to pay all support directly to the landlord or relevant utility company, and we’ll ensure that landlords agree to not seek eviction for at least a thirty-day period.

Is there a limit to how much assistance I can receive?

No, these decisions are based on circumstances and are made on a case-by-case basis. Likewise, assistance may be given more than once if it is determined that it will help you get back on your feet and move towards self-sufficiency.

Can I get help if I am in eviction status?

No, our goal is to help you as a person, not merely help with a landlord. Once the eviction process has started, we can give you some resources to help you as you find a new place to live.

Can Love Chapel help me find a place to live?

No, we can offer a list of landlords, but the actual task of finding a place is dependent on you.

Will Love Chapel help with phone or internet?

No, we focus on essential utilities necessary to maintain a living space, such as gas and electric.

Can Love Chapel help me get gas for my car?

Generally no, but we make exceptions for verified medical appointments and verified job interviews.
